Description:
Serial #288502, 6.5 x 55mm, 29 1/2” barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a 1911 dated rifle, made by the Carl Gustafs armory, that retains 97% of the original blue finish with some mild silvering at the muzzle as well as on the exposed edges and projections. The straight – handled bolt is numbered to the gun (most of the other parts are not matching numbered) and has a smooth armory bright finish with a few specks of freckling on the handle. The underside of the barrel has a small unobtrusive import marking near the muzzle and the stock and handguard are in fine shape with scattered minor handling marks and small blemishes (although the disk has been removed from the right side of the butt). The rifle has been outfitted for target work and features a added hooded front sight assembly, two drilled and tapped holes on the receiver bridge for mounting a rear aperture sight, and a seldom seen “SI – GA” experimental long eye – relief rear sight mounted in place of the original. The rifle comes with a correct cleaning rod and is in fine – near excellent condition; a great example of a Swedish Mauser with a most unusual rear sight. {Ref: “Crown Jewels” by Dana Jones; 2003} FFL or C&R
