Mfg. - Cal. 36 - 4" Bbl. - 5 shot - SN138XX (1860s) - all matching numbers. Absolutely perfect bore and action both DA and SA - perfect timing and lock-up. Metal is excellent with no rust, pitting, corrosion, etc. Barrel retains 95% deep blue with a few small areas of minor flaking - crisp edges and markings - few minor dings around wedge. Cylinder has 98% blue - perfect undamaged nipples - frame has flaked to about 80% - 85% . Brass guard and backstrap have a nice, mellow tone and are unpolished. Walnut grips are undamaged, retain about 98% finish, and show hardly any wear. The Cooper Navy Model is considered a secondary Martial revolver and though only about 15,000 were made 1864-1869, it was a very popular sidearm during the Civil War on both sides, especially by officers and in the early West having some of the best features of the Colt 1849 Pocket (small size) and the Colt 1851 Navy (.36 Cal.), plus double action capability. This Cooper Navy is all original, unaltered, and in EXCELLENT or better condition - an outstanding example of a scarce early DA revolver that will make a great collectible. SOLD Antique: Yes |
