Description:
This is an original 1864 Burnside Carbine. As can be seenm in the photos, it has all matching numbers. The stock is dark but the original stamping can still be seen.
The metalwork is as shown, with well-aged patina and pretty much all the casehardening gone. The bore is in good shape, with definitive lands and grooves, but does have some light frosting and pitting. The rifle does shoot well. The chamber seat and crown are in good shape.
The rifle is completely functional, and would serve well as a re-enactor or vintage hunting rifle.
Included will be 44 rounds of reproduction brass, as well as a new stainless nipple in addition to the original.
