Description:
PENDING SALE-This is an elegant little sporter from JP Sauer. The rifle features a half-round, half octagonal barrel, DST, barrel mounted swivel mount, steel gripcap, full-length barrel rib, and Schnabel forend tip. The rifle has engraving on the floorplate, trigger guard, action, and arcaded barrel root.
The wood was touched up and re-oiled, and the checkering re-cut by Gary Stiles' shop, and the custom Talley mounts and signature recoil pad done at Griffin & Howe.
The 8x60 Mauser is a fairly stout round, using a .318 bullet in various weights. The ballistics are:
154gr bullet at 2,972 fps
196gr bullet at 2,585 fps
198gr bullet at 2,582 fps
227gr bullet at 2,392 fps
Brass is easily made from 30-06 cases, and .318 J bullets are available from Woodleigh, Hawk, Buffalo Arms and Huntingtons in various weights. RCBS Dies and some brass and bullets will be included with the sale.
The rifle now wears a more authentic Kahles Wien 6X with a German #4 reticle.
