Description:
Serial #18881, .30 RF, 3" barrel cluster with very good light - moderately pitted bores. This is an extremely handsome example that has retained 90% of the original bright blue finish with some flaking along the right side of the cluster and some mild fading at the muzzles and elsewhere. The brass frame retains about 80% of the original silver plated finish with dark gray - black tarnish visible where the plating remains and a mellow yellow - ochre patina where the underlying brass is exposed. The checkered gutta - percha grips are in fine shape with only some very minor flattening of the points and some very small handling marks on either panel. The barrel lock - up is still tight and the mechanism functions flawlessly. It is unusual to see a Sharps & Hankins pepperbox that has retained a large amount of the original silver plating on the frame (or even the bluing on the barrels) 2and this example rates fine condition.
