This pistol is still in the original flint and has an overall dark plum - brown patina along the barrel which has clear breech markings: "P / US"; "RJ"; and an additional "MS" stamp on the left side (Massachusetts State Militia). There is a patch of pitting around the touch hole and there are some minor impact marks along the length of the barrel as well. The lock plate is marked "S. NO(RTH) / U (eagle) S / MIDDLN. CO(NN)" beneath the brass pan which has a dull yellow - ochre patina (the brass front sight blade is no longer present). There is some dull gray on the lock plate but the cock and frizzen have developed an overall dark plum patina which also carries over onto the other iron furniture as well. The lock is still rather tight and fully functional while the walnut stock has a thick added varnish finish over numerous small handling marks and surface blemishes with a deeply struck "MS" just behind the sideplate. A period, non - original wooden ramrod is included and the pistol rates very good plus - near fine condition overall.
