Description:
Inv. 5116 Tranter (Civil War) Percussion Revolver, Cal. 44 Ser. 13579..........
This is one of a pair of consecutively numbered pistols. .(See Inventory #5116-18). Obviously from a cased set........ The finish on the nicely engraved barrel and frame assembly is about 40-45% of the original blue. The balance toning to a soft pewter ........
The trigger, butt cap, cylinder pin and  grip straps have a fine patina. There are  no serious pits just some fine scattered pin pricks.......

The cylinder retains also about 40-45% of the "In The white " factory finish . The balance acquiring a soft patina............
The walnut checkered grips show little wear with no splits or cracks but there are a scattered flattened point or two........ The gun operates properly and locks up tight. The bore has quite sharp rifling with just a modest amount of graying. The nipples are sharp and not battered showing little if any use. Both guns feature  a very  unusual cylinder safety on the right side which can be pivoted forward to lock the cylinder this feature is fully functional on both guns.
Inv. 5118 also a Tranter (Civil War) 4th Series Cal. .44 Perc., Ser. 13580.  This gun retains with about 65% 0f the original factory high polish blue remaining. Most of the loss is the silvering of the edges, and scattered light patches of patina.. The cylinder retains about 90% of the original factory "In the white" finish with a small patch of light toning.. The barrel and frame group engraving is still quite sharp..The trigger guard, grip straps, butt cap, and cylinder pin have a soft even patina. There are no real pits or rust as is expected for a gun of this age, but there are small areas of light pin pricks.....

The walnut checkered grips have no splits or cracks but do show some slight point flattening. The nipples are not battered and show little or no use. The bore is outstanding, sharp and crisp with a few small areas of light graying. The gun locks up tight and functions correctly. This is set an outstanding find for the percussion collector.. A Civil War era matched set.

A real opportunity at $4,795.00
