SHARPS NEW MODEL 1859 CIVIL WAR CARBINE 52 CALIBER
Sharps New Model 1859 Civil War Carbine 52 Caliber. Iron furniture. 22” bbl., 39” overall length. Marking near breech: New Model 1859, markings on bbl. Sharps Manufacture Co./Hartford, Conn. Markings left side of receiver: C. Sharps Pat. Sept. 12, 1848. : C. Sharps’ Pat./Oct./5/1852, right side of lock: R.S. Lawrence pat. April 12, 1859. Metal markings are all very readable. Walnut stock with oil finish. Ser. #64409.
Condition: Barrel, bbl. Bands and sight are brown-plum, case hardening mostly grey/silver/brown. Wood has some dents, dings. Etc. Hammer has small chip out of side. Bore has some rifling and corrosion in the bore or chamber. Works fine mechanically. Is very good condition overall; original sharps civil war carbine.
