This exceptionally nice completely restored Mauser Mauser 98 action, the very desirable full rib half octogon to round barrel in 9.3x62 caliber with 2 leaf iron sights. Marked Franz Kettner, Koln Suhl, 9.3x62 on the barrel. The barrel is in absolutely mint as new condition and is incredibly accurate off the bench at 100 yards.
Complete with Talley rings and bases.., The blue is beautiful and 98%....the stock had a minor small 1/4" long split in the tang area and another in the grip area, but I repaired them and it looks very nice and hardly shows.. It is now fully glass bedded, and has been beefed up in the tang and action area along with two cross bolts and an extra recoil lug installed on the barrel to be sure the stock is secure and will never form minor splits again., ... It has a Timney-Buehler safety and Talley bolt handle that is scope friendly. This gun now has most of the bells and whistles. The stock is a beautiful dark blood red matrix with full blackish fiddle back and has a Silvers pad to 13-7/8" LOP. I have test fired the gun about 100 times since I did the repair work and its good to go. I don't think you could find a nicer rifle than this one..Has very minor handling marks.
The cost of a half octogon/half round full rib barrel on todays market would be close to $3000 alone, by some of the better gun builders.
If you like the look of older guns with the added advantage of accuracy, pretty wood and pointability, and the old world barrel contour, and in a great caliber like the 9.3x62 then this gun has it all..I love to find and restore these great old Mausers to add another century or two of historic value and hunting use.
