Serial no 14119. 12 gauge. 30 inch dove-tailed barrels. Game rib marked: J.Purdey & Sons, Audley House South Audley Street London Made with Sir Joseph Whitworth Fluid Pressed Steel. Polished Holland & Holland-style action engraved with foliate scroll and game scenes: right side: a drake mallard landing, left side: drake pintail springing from the water. Numerous gold floral details. Locks marked: J. Purdey & Sons in gold. Recoil-operated non-selective single trigger. Hidden third-fastener. Ejectors. Finely checkered straight-grip stock of slightly figured walnut. Drop points. Checkered butt. Vacant oval. Finely checkered splinter fore-end. Later leather trunk case with brass corners and hardware. Maroon interior with a reproduction James Purdey & Sons label. Cleaning rod, oil bottle and snapcaps.
Condition: Excellent, showing limited use. Barrels show 99 percent bluing. Excellent bores. Wood shows light handling marks. Case in excellent condition with loose partitions.
Barrel Dimensions: Bores: 0.736/0.737 inches. Chokes: -0.04 /0.031 inches (Cylinder/Improved Cylinder). Chambers: 2 ½ inches. Minimum wall thickness: 0.023 inches. Proof (spurious): London, Nitro, 12, 12, 1 1/8 inches. Stock Dimensions: Pull: 14 ¼ inches. Drop at comb: 1 3/8 inches. Drop at heel: 2 1/8 inches. Weight: 6 pounds 11 ounces.

Note: Per James Purdey & Sons No. 14119 is recorded as a 20-bore double barrel shotgun with 29 inch barrels built in 1892 on the Beesley-patent action.
