Description:
This is a Colt 1911A1 in 45. This pistol is a Lend Lease gun that was "Lended" to the British Government during World War II, and bears the proofmarks for the British Military. The frame has a parkerized finish, showing normal signs of wear and use from a pistol of this vintage. On the right side of the frame it is marked as follows: "M1911A1 U.S.ARMY" just forward of the slide stop hole, "1 2 8" Under crossed swords just forward of the slide stop hole, "41" on the trigger guard near the frame, "BNP" Under a crown just behind the slide stop hole, and it has what appears to be a faint stamping of crossed cannons between the hammer and sear pin. On the left side of the frame, it is marked as follows: "K" on the trigger guard just below the frame, "P" in an upside down triangle on the trigger guard, "G.H.D." just behind the trigger below the slide stop, and "P" just behind the magazine release. When disassembled, on the top of the frame just behind the Disconnector, there is a "G", "Y", and "B" stamped into the frame. The slide is parkerized, and has normal signs of wear and use, with some discoloration on the front two inches of the slide. The slide has no visible British proofmarks, but has a "P" stamped on top of the slide, between the rear sight and ejection port. The barrel is stamped "HS" on the right side of the lower locking lugs, and "P" on the left side of the locking lugs. The barrel hood is stamped "BNP" under a crown and ".45" .900" 7 TONS".
