Auguste Francotte Sidelock Hammer, 12 bore, original 2 1/2" chambers, original 30" damascus black powder proved barrels choked .009 IC and .026 IM with a grooved wide concave game rib inlayed "Auguste Francotte, Liege Belgium" in gold, 14 1/8" LOP over original horn butt plate, 1 3/4" DAC, 3 1/8" DAH, neutral cast at heel but with a slight cast on at toe, 7 lbs. 7 oz., extractor, double triggers, pistol grip, splinter forend with horn inlay at tip, fine and bold acanthus scroll engraving with game scene vignettes on each side of action of hounds and a rabbit on right along with hounds and a fox on the left, dolls head rib extension 3rd bite, vacant gold stock oval. Excellent condition gun with well kept finishes on wood and barrels. Barrels have some faint finish only rubs on right side and horn butt has some decay. A beautifully engraved and scarce hammer gun from this maker.
