Description:
#4841 Colt 1871-72 S/A , 3-1/2” 38CF , VG bore and tight action. Commonly considered by early Colt collectors to have been a “conversion’, these actually were Colts made from left-over 1862 Pocket Navy and Police percussion parts and never were conversions of completed percussion guns. They were made between 1873-1880 in both rimfire and centerfire, there were about 6000 in all that were produced. This little Colt still retains about 50-60% original nickel with the remainder having peeled to a brown patina, VG+ grips with 40-50% original varnish and 50% + cylinder scene; the remainder partially obscured by bumps and bruises. Matching serial numbers in the 311XXX range so likely one of those made in the 1873-74 era. About “Fine. $895
