Description:
Two interesting North African knives. First is a Nimcha. This sixteen inch dagger features an engraved eleven inch curved blade, wire inlaid grip and scabbard and red enamel decorations. This was made as a display piece, blade was never sharpened. The ferrule at front of grip is broken. Blade shows cleaned oxidation stains with protective layer of shellac applied by a former owner. Sheath is two piece wood construction held by brass bands and tip. A small piece of wire inlay is missing. Second is a Koummya, a 15 inch knife with curved 8 inch blade. Blade shows oxidation stains and is covered in a preservative layer of shellac. Blade is slightly loose with pommel nut broken free. This piece shows many period solder repairs to the decorative brass fittings. Scabbard shows similar repairs and is missing tip. Two great display pieces for the gun room.
