Payment Types Accepted: Credit Card, Cashiers Check Description: This musket was the first regulation percussion longarm and the last smoothbore. This is a standard model features a 42" barrel in .69 caliber and features three bands with the front band doubles as front sight. The US lockplate is dated 1845 and the breech is stamped 1847. The left side of the barrel features the VP and Eagle head stamp with US stamped on butt plate. All the metal is a clean smooth patina with no pitting, not even around the nipple. Action and spring as strong as new. Bore is almost mirror bright so I would have no problem shooting this example. There is a large number 3 stamped into the wood on left side. The stock is excellent and does not have any cracks at all. This rifle was not rifled. These muskets were used by the government until 1865 and saw use throughout the entire civil war. It is all original except the front band is a replacement but it almost indistinguishable. A wonderful martial rifle in excellent condition with a great bore, perrect nipple, great action and no abuse. Small W carved on right side. Antique so can be sent anywhere SOLD Antique: Yes |
