Description:
This fine navy pistol has a large belt hook, fancy socket style breech plug, swivel mounted ramrod, and many inspector's marks. The barrel is dated 1842 with several touch marks. Lockplate indicates Tulle manufacture. Buttcap shows "M" (Marine) stamp. This pistol shows the 1849 arsenal modification of an added backstrap with tang and buttcap altered to fit. This pistol is in excellent condition, showing signs of an old cleaning with minor stains on bright steel and light brass patina. The wood shows many marks from use. A fine example of this classic French pistol. We have another of these coming up on Monday that is very similar with an anchor on the butt as opposed to the "M" and dated 1841. Antique
