Description:
This Is a really nice scope it was my grandpas which puts it in WW1, I believe.. I have been looking for months now and its very hard to find these (and info. is very scarce unless you read italian, which i dont). So all I learned is what I am putting in here. Early scopes came from France which were either the Modèle 1916 or 1917 APX (Ateliers de Puteaux), later Italian 4X scopes were used, these scopes were made by "La Filotecnica- Milano" Targets for Italian Snipers were higher officers, artillery observers, and small obscured targets of miltary importance in general, supposedly only about 2,000 rifles were built during The Great War. I have seen scopes like this on carcanos.WW2 Italian snipers actions, I believe they, were pretty rarely documented. WW1 Italy were allies, hence the french scopes. One thing seems to me though, only an idiot would use a shiny bare metal scope for sniping. I also read that they would send out 3 Scouts 1 was the sniper the other 2 were to bring back the scope.(I imagine that made sniper feel good) I am pricing this by what I seen 1 sell last year for since I can't get anyone to appraise it., I am putting it here because I think someone here could appreciate the history of it.
