Description:
Early Manton Type 1 Enfield Sporting Rifle in 375 Express in Original Case. Appears to have been built originally by BSA and then marketed or finished by Manton. The Butt-stock socket is the only area marked with BSA Co. This gun appears to be all Original, in the Canvas Covered Case with Leather Trim. Three of the corner pieces are missing. We do have 5 of the 8. Gun is a Type 1 Sporter with full rib and 3 blade Express Sights. Gun shows age and wear from hunting. Very simple border engraving on the rreceiver, trigger guard, magazine, butt-stock socket and metal buttplate. Some gold on magazine bordering the engraving. Bolt numbers to the gun. Wood is sound with no apparent cracks or repairs. Ebony Forend, nice checkering, What appears to be a bone or ebony pistol grip cap and proper swivel studs. Excellent Bore and shoots very well. Previous owner shot a black bear with it last season. A nice old piece of history that spent most of its life in India, likely tiger hunting. Selling as antique, no licenses necessary to purchase.
