Description:
This dark fruitwood case holds six Taji or cockfighting spurs. These have an unusual feather shape and long handles, unique in design, that is only seen in Bali, Indonesia. Kotek (case) is carved in a figure, similar on both sides, and has wire hinges and latch. This contains six handmade Taji (spurs). One of these is bound to a rooster's left foot for cockfighting. This sport is banned in most places, including the USA, it was banned in Bali in 1980. Cockfighting has 6000 years of history as a sporting or religious event, often involving wagering. This is an interesting relic of an ancient sport that is no longer legal.
