Smith & Wesson Model 49 Shrouded Hammer, Caliber .38 Special. Serial Number 53J8XX.
Manufactured approximately 1975-6. Those not familiar with this somewhat scarce model, the design makes it the perfect hideaway or backup piece. You have the option to fire the weapon single action and at the same time the shrouded hammer prevents the gun being caught in a pocket lining or belt loop. The Hammerless model do not leave you the single action option. The condition is just about factory new, at least 99.99% original finish. It is doubtless that gun has seen more than two 6 round loads since its purchase. There is no edge wear, silvering or muzzle wear only the very faintest cylinder drag line. There are no scratches or marred screws. All numbers match. The walnut grips are just as new, and that's flawless. The pinned barrel is mirror bright and razor sharp.
