Here is a rare piece indeed. A genuine Mauser S-42 K-DATE Luger. It is in nickel finish and was obviously a presentation piece of sorts. I have no provenance as to the actual history - so it is what it is. Had it been to a general officer or field Marshall it would most likely have been engraved like Goering's Walther PPK. My guess is that it was a gift to some ranking NSDAP party member - hence the official party cloisonné medallion on the grip. If I had 'papers' it would be worth quite a bit as a historic collectable. I have been offered 500 for the grips alone many years ago. he gun itself is clean inside and out and the old nickel is almost 100% and the only flaw is a tiny muzzle blast flaking is on the end of the muzzle - hardly visible. The pictures tell the story. It is all matching including the magazine. Bore is very good with only minor frosting in the groves. It is in a handsome quality genuine oak red felt lined fitted presentation case - but probably not period. It is a a gorgeous conversation piece - more than likely one of a kind. The nine thousand serial number range is correct. asking $3500 which is about 70% book and all things considered - reasonable. Please phone with any questions - 813-8861235.
