You rarely get to see ANY large frame lightning slide action rifles today - in ANY condition. There were only about 6500 made which makes them one of the scarcest Colts. This example is very clos to collector quality and probably as good as most collectors will ever see today. T0 me - a deluxe express model is the Holy Grail of Lightnings.

This one is extra nice. To my eye it looks better than the pictures in real life.  It has about all of the bright factory blue on barrel and mag tube and about 75% on the receiver.  There is some case color on hammer. The bore is bright and strong - as good as I have ever seen on an express frame. Wood is nice with perfect fit and no refinish or damage.  Sights are proper otiginal Cott. The action is tight snappy and smooth. The caliber is the propritary Colt 40-60-260 and  suitable for deer or larger game should you want to shoot it.  the components are available

The slide has the deluxe checkering which is original and hardy shows wear. It is overall a fine super clean rare example of Colts legendary 'express' slide rifles with no issues or appologies.. It is an antique so we need not show our 'papers' to the Gestapo.
