Description:
SOLD...  A very crisp antique 1893 Marlin. S/N 138787 and MFG in 1896. Caliber is the very sought after 32-40. Very accurate cartridge here and is very well noted for target rifles. Has the standard 26" octagon barrel. The bore is very fine and very near excellent with just minor light frosting. Strong and deep rifling with NO pitting, rings or bulges. Functions perfectly and smooth as silk.. Feeds, fires and ejects like new. Hammer notches are correct and solid and not worn like a lot of these Marlins you see. Has the original front and rear sights. The metal is in great condition still showing some case colors on both sides of the lever and a little showing on both sides of the receiver in the protected areas. The balance of the receiver has silvered out and still shows case color patterning. The barrel just has traces of blue in the protected area by the mag tube and shows faded blue to light brown patina. The markings are excellent. NO pitting on this gun anywhere. The wood is super nice also. The forearm still fits proud to the metal all around. NO cracks or splits and only a couple very light dings from handling. Retains excellent color as you can see also. The butt stock is excellent also with NO cracks or splits. Fits tight and proud to the metal all around also. Does have one very small nick out of the lower left side by the tang as you can see in the photo. Very minor but I want to mention it as this gun is in very fine condition. Has a scratch and a couple very minor light handling dings but has great color also. None of the wood has ever been sanded on or messed with nor has the metal. This is a well above average antique lever action rifle in great condition just like the collectors and shooters like to find them. That is about all I can say on this one. Look at the photos and see for your self this a fine gun here.
