Palmetto 1874 Sharps "Gemmer" .45-70 A variation of the Sharps falling block rifle with the addition of some "Hawken" type parts. The stock features a small cheek piece and crescent buttplate, the forend has a silver cap, and wedges hold the forend to the barrel. The heavy octagonal barrel measures 28" in length and is fitted with a "Rocky Mountain" front blade and a "Buck Horn" rear sight. Fitted with Double Set Triggers. Condition is virtually brand new. It does not appear that this rifle has seen any use. The brown on the frame, hammer and lever are 100%. Likewise, the barrel brown rates 100% without wear. The mechanics appear to be in 100% perfect condition and the bore is mirror bright. Overall length is about 46 inches and weighs in at a solid 11.8 pounds. Made in Italy. A beautiful rifle that ought to make a great long-distance shooter. No longer being manufactured.
