Description:
This LC Smith Ideal Grade 12 gauge shotgun, serial number 32167, was manufactured in 1948 and was thus one of the last 25,000 LC Smith shotguns ever produced.   This may account for the exceptionally fine wood, based on the assumption that as production was winding down the best of the remaining stock blanks would have been selected.  As seen in the pictures, the engraving on the receiver is well preserved, as demonstrated by the degree of definition in the veins of the leaves, and the side plates and protected areas  retain traces case color.

The gun has a well-functioning Hunter-One-Trigger, 26” London Steel barrels choked Improved Cylinder (.010)/ Improved Modified (.025), and 2-3/4” chambers.  The lettering on the top of the barrel is crisp and raised to the touch.  The bores are bright.  The wall thickness (top/side/bottom) for the right barrel at 9” from muzzle is .038/.042/.042 and at the middle of the barrel is .036/.042/.042; the left barrel is .040/.040/.042 and .037/.038/.042, respectively.  Bores 9” from the breach are .730/.730 respectively.  The gun weighs 7 lbs 5 oz.  The drop at the comb is 1-5/8” and at the heel 2-3/4”.  Length of pull from the front trigger to the end of the butt plate is 14”.  The gun locks up tight and on face; the top lever returns slightly to the left of center.  All serial numbers match.

This American classic gun is properly refurbished to bring it back to the condition is would have been after 5 to 10 years of use by the original owner.  If you have questions, please do not hesitate to call seller at 703-625-4830.  Seller will ship this gun in a hard case.  The inspection period is 7 days from receipt by the buyer.  Also, it carries a 30-day warrantee, during which the seller will have any mechanical problems repaired or accept the return of the gun and refund the price of the gun and return shipping cost.  Seller has fired this shotgun on a multiple occasions on sporting clays ranges using standard factory 2-3/4” target loads.  However, as for any vintage shotgun it is recommended that new owner have it inspected by a professional gunsmith before firing.
