Description:
A.H. Fox B Grade 12 gauge Shotgun. A beautiful example of a B-Grade Fox gun. This is an early Philadelphia gun, manufactured in 1911, during the years when Ansley Fox actually owned the Fox Gun Company and inspected all the guns manufactured. Fox shotguns manufactured during the period between 1906-1912 (called the “Golden Age of Fox” by such prominent Fox collectors as the Late Michael McIntosh) were truly the finest Fox shotguns ever produced. I purchased this gun from a collector who had it in his vault for many years. It came from North Carolina, where it was restored to factory condition sometime in the 1980’s.
This gun has absolutely no flaws. It is in amazing condition and would be suitable for the high-end Fox collector. It has not been fired since its restoration and appears to have been used very sparingly since its manufacture in 1911. The pictures included here really do not do the gun justice; it is an amazing piece that needs to be viewed in person to be truly appreciated. The beautiful engraving found on this gun was only done for B-Grade guns until 1914. Later B-Grade Guns have the deep relief engraving that took much less time to produce. Thus, in this gun you have a graded Fox shotgun, manufactured during the absolute height of craftsmanship in AH Fox history.
You can put this gun away and watch it appreciate, or you can use it in the field knowing that it is 100% mechanically sound. The gun can easily be modified for field use by opening the chokes and adding a recoil pad to increase the length of pull. If you have any questions or would like additional photos, please fell free to contact me. Thanks for your interest!
