Marked on the blade "ARKANSAN TOOTHPICK" not Arkansas.
Arkansan: definition (a native or inhabitant of Arkansas or relating to Arkansas)
The grip looks to be Ebony or a very hard black wood. Pommel is brass nickel plated, but, much of the nickel has worn off although it is still very bright on the band just above the guard. The blade is sharp with no nicks or chips. The blade has some patches of brown but. no rust or pits.  No makers name. Overall length is 15 inches, Blade length 10 1/8 inches. thickness of the spine is 1/4 inch. The sheath is heavy skirting leather and is somewhat primitive. It is put together with old copper rivets.
