Description: A Sharps New Model 1865 Carbine with its original 5-groove bore intact (most surviving guns were relined with a 3-groove bore if the barrel bore tolerance was exceeded), this example is in excellent mechanical condition. The Lawrence pellet feeder device is intact, the saddle bar and ring present and the spring on the Lawrence rear sight is a strong as the day it was made. The screw heads are in very good to excellent condition implying the firearm hasn't been molested and all internal parts appear to be original as well. SOLD Manufacturer: 1865 and converted from percussion in 1867 (Serial #: C, 46690) Caliber Info: .50-70 Government Metal Condition: The lock retains approximately 50% of its original case colors, the rceiver is a mottled gray patina mixed with the remaining case coloring. The barrel bluing is strong, with approximately 80% original blue with gray patina extending closer to the muzzle Wood Condition: Smooth walnut stock has several light to moderate dings and scratches as would be expected on a gun of this vintage. Although the finish on both stock and forend appear to be original, the lack of cartouches may indicate re-stocking in the 1867 conversio Bore Condition: Bright bore with crisp, original 5 groove rifling.
