Mauser Red 9 C-96. Serial Number 466XX. Caliber 9mm.
Here is an opportunity to obtain a genuine original Red 9. This gun has not been refinished. The serial number falling in about the first third of the order for Red 9s placed by the Weimar Republic for the troops of WWI. The contract was for 150, 000 starting with serial #1. The gun is properly marked with Weimar Drooping Eagle on the bottom of the trigger guard. The finish is an easy 90%. While it is thinning, the only real loss is on the sharp edges and the barrel from the holster stock. There is no pitting, or rust anywhere. . The front of the magazine, at some point must have rested on or stored on a pointed object as it has numerous little pin pricks. And the usual mild graying of the grip straps. All numbered parts match. The hammer is marked NS for new safety. The grips are the correct 30 groove style with the proper applied Red 9 carved in each. The condition of the grips, like the gun is outstanding. There are no chips, dents or splits anywhere. The fire blue rear sight slide has toned to silver while the extractor still has 90% of the original fire blue. The bolt face is exceptionally clean. The bore is really quite sharp and bright with some very slight graying at the throat.
