Description:
Serial #8285, 11mm Mauser, 32” barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is an 1888 dated rifle with all matching numbers that retains about 85% plus of the original blue on the barrel which blends nicely with the dark plum-brown patina on the balance. The receiver's armory bright finish has developed mild freckling over time which carries over onto the bolt and trigger guard tangs. The walnut stock is in fine condition as refinished with some scattered handling marks and some crazing of the old added varnish. The cartouches on the right side of the buttstock are still fairly crisp and clear as well. This is a great looking, mechanically excellent example of a Gewehr 71/84 in very good-near fine condition and would make a terrific addition to any collection. Antique
