Payment Types Accepted: Credit Card, Cashiers Check Description: This is a fine example of a rare factory blue finish Smith and Wesson Transition Model American revolver chambered for 44 American round. According to the Supica and Nahas book, this fits all the standard requirments for a transition first model that falls into the proper 6800-8000 serial number range with the early flat first model frame and the second model interlocking hammer and latch with the short 1.423 length cylinder. This example remains in fine all original condition and in the much rarer factory blue finish which remains at least 60-70% overall, most of which is still brilliant. Balance of metal smooth patina. Original grips still have most of the original varnish. Great case colors on hammer and trigger guard. Mirror as new bore. Serial number 6860. Mfg 1872. This was the true first big bore cartridge revolver mfg. in the US and a popular model on the frontier. These all original blue high condition transition models are very hard to come by and this one is a fine example that has never been messed with. Antique. SOLD Antique: Yes |
