This is a Sharp's New Model 1863 Saddle Ring Carbine in .50-70 Gov't. It has 2 Military cartouches on the stock. The bore is very good. Rear sight is a Lawrence. Action locks up tight and operates correctly. Butt plate is the old style patch box type. This one of those guns that's been well used, cared for and works great.
