Description:
A pre-war sporter named on the left side of the frame:Mauser-Werke A. G Oberndorf aN, SN 70479 then a diamond shape, and possibly a CROWN over a U, which is thin like a possible refinish?The floor plate and trigger guard have matching numbers with the frame. The bolt has stamped on the handle top flat a CROWN over B, and a CROWN over a U. A very smooth action. Rear sight is a two blade flip up type and and front is a ramp sight. Comes with sling swivels. No caliber markings but the muzzle measures 8mm. Bore has strong rifling with some frosting in the grooves. The bolt safety is a low profile. The butt-plate appears to be pressed buffalo horn. The wood is fancy grain French walnut, with hand checkering and long ago someone tried to freshen up the checkering not too professionally. The top mounted scope with claw mounts soldered to the frame looks like a wartime scope with no markers name I can see. Optics are good with three posts. Overall would be a good shooter.
