1966 was the Winchester Repeating Arms Company's 100th year of operation. To commemorate this occasion, Winchester produced a run of collector Model 94 rifles, the Winchester Centennial '66. These were based on post 1964 Model 94's actions with a gold plated receiver and forend cap, brass "rifle" (curved) buttplate, saddle ring, and a heavy octagon barrel with a full length magazine that is nicely polished and deeply blued. The straight hand stock is select walnut. The receiver is 24 carat gold plated inside and out, so it is elegant with the action open, as well. The gold and brass was to make the 1966 Centennial reminiscent of the brass framed Winchester 1866 "Yellow Boy" rifle which was Winchester's first product.
Winchester intended to make approximately 44,000 of these Centennial '66 Model 94's, but due to consumer demand, the final production resulted in a combined total of 102,309 rifles and carbines. This Centennial '66 has a serial number of 78969, and is in like new condition for being over 45 years old. This gun looks to have been well taken care of and shows no signs of use. There are three tiny specks on the right hand side of the receiver near the top where the finish is missing, two indents in the bottom of the buttstock, and a light scratch on bluing of the magazine tube. Other than those minor issues, this gun is in excellent condition as pictured.
