Description:
Serial #286958, .31 cal., 5" octagon barrel with a very good bore that has mild pitting within the grooves. This little revolver has 25% of the original blue remaining on the barrel with the balance having a plum-brown patina streaked with some bright gray along the exposed edges. The cylinder and frame have an overall dark plum-brown patina mixing with some dull gray, especially along the rear of the cylinder. There are matching numbers on the frame, arbor, trigger guard, and grip strap (286958) while the cylinder, barrel, and wedge are numbered to a different gun (299507). The trigger guard and back strap have an overall dull yellow-ochre patina with traces of original silver below the hammer as well as a few small impact marks on the butt. The walnut grip has a slightly dull oil finish but has not been sanded and there is wear at the flare of the butt along with some further impact marks. The action is still rather tight and is fully functional. This is a very good plus little '49 Pocket and would make a nice representative example for a collection. Antique
