Description:
Serial #190057, .30-40 Krag, 30" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a very nice rifle that has retained 95% plus of the original blue finish that has faded slightly at the muzzle and along the high edges. The receiver has some mild freckling along the edge of the extractor clearance cut on the left side as well as some further mild fading along the projecting edges and surfaces. The bolt has some mild freckling on the brightly finished body and handle and some traces of the original bright fire blue remains on the extractor, blending with a mellow mottled pewter patina on the balance. The walnut stock and handguard have scattered handling marks in the original oil finish and a crisp "JSA/1899" cartouche is present on the left side of the wrist which has a series of large diagonal cracks and grain separations on both sides (these are repairable). The buttplate has a mild plum-brown patina and both a segmented cleaning rod and nickel oiler in the stock compartment. The rifle is additionally equipped with an original brass muzzle cover which has a fairly bright yellow original polish remaining. This is a very nice '98 Krag that rates near fine condition and would make a great addition to any collection. FFL or C&R
