Description:
Antique Civil War era Artillery Short Sword for sale.
The brass grip is standard with cast fish scales and an eagle on the pommel. The cross guard is marked "JH and WAT" inspector initials; the blade base exhibits an eagle cartouche. It comes with the correct leather waist scabbard with brass tip.
Sword condition is reasonably fine with an original polish, balanced with mottled silver gray patina. The brass has an untouched aged patina. The waist scabbard has age cracks and remains intact although well worn.
It is rare to find both blade and waist scabbord intact together.
