Description:
Serial #48L0082, .303 British, 25” barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This Long Branch-made, 1943 dated rifle has post-war “FTR” refurbishment stamp and 1953 date stamp with the metal retaining about 50-60% of the arsenal applied Suncorite finish that has worn to dark plum-brown on the receiver and specled gray on the muzzle and front sight protectors. The matching numbered bolt has a commensurate amount of finish still present with some streaks of gray along the body and some dark freckling and mild pitting on the handle. The stock and furniture are in very good-fine condition with several minor handling marks and small surface blemishes throughout marring the otherwise fine added military oil finish and there is a single short with-the-grain crack at the heel of the butt and the Canadian property stamps are still fairly crisp on the underside of the wrist. A rack number is stamped on the toe of the butt “127” and there appears to be an “L” stamped into the comb. A single unnumbered magazine is included, as is a used but serviceable light blue canvasR.A.F. sling. This is a nice, Canadian-made rifle and rates very good-near fine condition overall. {Ref. “The Lee-Enfield A Century of Lee-Metford & Lee-Enfield Rifles & Carbines” by Ian Skennerton; 2007} FFL or C&R
