This is a very cool example of Confederate ingenuity and use of scarce resources during the American Civil War. It came out of an old Civil War Collection in Texas. The Blade is made out of an old sword blade with a Knights Head marking. No other markings. Total length is just at 24 inches. Blade is in great condition with no flea bites. No rust. Great patina as photos exhibit. No recent sharpening. Very tip has a little bit of pitting probably from stirring fires. Tin Scabbard that still has belt loop. Scabbard probably had a japanned finish at one time. Sand Casted brass handle with a lot of gas bubbles and little imperfections in the metal. Fastening retention spring still works. Everything is tight on the bayonet. One of a kind Great Confederate bayonet with scabbard at an affordable price SOLD |
