Nice and clean, better than average, 1873 standard model Saddle Ring Carbine in 44-40 caliber. Gun has 20" barrel and full magazine with carbine trap door butt plate. All the metal surfaces are a clean and very smooth corrosion free blue brown patina. Wood is excellent albiet butt stock is a bit shy of metal so was redone at one time but looks perfect and free of any cracks or chips and looks great and must have been done years ago. Bore has some strong rifling but some spotting. Action works perfectly. Mfg. in 1880 so is a prime Wild West era carbine. It is a lovely smooth clean all original carbine and even the screws are perfect. Far better than most of these that you see and no aplogies needed
