Description: Serial #W2085, .303 British, 25? barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This rifle is dated 1917 and retains traces of an armory added black Suncorite finish on the receiver and within the markings, but the balance of the metal has a dark blue-gray patina that brightens at the edges and on the projections. The bolt was arsenal renumbered to match and is equipped with a No. 4 grooved cocking-piece. British acceptance marks are present as well as a large ?C (Broad Arrow)? on the left side of the receiver ring, ?ENGLAND? stamp on the right, and a small and unobtrusive import mark on the right side of the wrist. The matching numbered nosecap and mismatched magazine have about 70-80% blue remaining and the walnut stock and handguards are in good condition with numerous small handling marks and surface bruises both under and through an armory re-applied oil finish. A large rack number is painted on the left side of the buttstock: ?130?. This is a very good SMLE overall, reworked around World War II, and should make a very nice shooter.
