This is a handsome rifle that has an overall mottled pewter gray patina on the metal with traces of dark freckling running along the barrel and on the frame. Some bright original blue remains on the protected areas of the lever and the mechanism is tight and fully functional. The balance of the metal has developed an attractive mixed plum-brown and gray patina over time with some mild pinprick pitting at and around the nipple. The walnut stock and buttstock are likewise in fine condition with some scattered minor handling marks and surface blemishes, most noticeably on the left side of the wrist as well as a shallow chip missing from the toe of the butt. The wood has an old added varnish finish but is otherwise still in fine condition. This is a tight, fine condition example of a desirable Civil War Sharps military rifle that would make an excellent addition to any collection.
