Description:
This is an excellent example of a Mauser 1942 regular Nazi Army production Luger P.08 pistol. These late Mauser production Lugers have acquired the collector term "Black Widow" based on them having the late war all salt blued finish which is very dark in color, with the late "P08" frame markings on the left side. This Luger has the "42" chamber date with the front toggle marked with "byf", the wartime code for the Mauser factory. The right side of the barrel extension has the "eagle/135" Waffenamt proofs along with the single eagle firing proof. It is numbered in the military fashion with the full serial number (2023) stamped on the front of the frame, the left side of the barrel extension and the underside of the barrel. With the last two digits of the serial number (23) located on all the various remaining small parts. It has standard sights and markings and is complete with two magazines, one with Waffenamt proof aluminum base, the other unmarked with plastic base. This pistol is complete with black leather holster that is marked on the back "E G. Leuner GmbH Bautzen 1941 WaA 170 under the Nazi eagle with a large P.08 marked in the upper right hand corner.
