Description:
This 1889 vintage Model 1873 rifle might have belonged to several generations of a familiy judging by the initials on the elevator, but the "W" engraved on the dust cover is of recent vintage as evidenced by the lack of oxidation. A curious feature is that while the "patina" and "case colors" on the receiver appear to be strong, the underlying metal surface carries a significant amount of freckling/pitting that seems to be inconsistent with the quality of the finish. The photo of the left side of the receiver illustrates this phenomenon quite well.

Bore Condition: Bore reflects light well, but has a frosted appearance and exhibits light to moderate pitting. Possibly polished to enhance appearance.
