Description:
SOLD...Antique near mint Smith & Wesson 2nd model.. Here is an outstanding Smith & Wesson 2nd model SA. .38 S&W caliber. S/N is early 16683 and all matching of course. Probably MFG in 1878 or 1879 first or second year production. Has the standard 3 1/4" barrel. The finish on this gun is absolutely wonderful. As you can see in the photos over all this little jewel retains 98%+ original bright and shiny nickel finish and just missing a few tiny specks here and there. Very hard to find guns made this early in this condition. Visible case colors on the hammer. The barrel latch and trigger retain 99% original blue. Very hard gun to up grade unless you find one of these new and mint in the box. The mechanics of course are excellent. This little gun is as tight as new. Locks up tight as new. Rock solid barrel to frame fit at the latch. The bore is very good with strong rifling and some minor roughness. The chambers are very nice and will clean up very fine. The grips are excellent with NO cracks, chips or repairs of any kind. Still show very fine checkering and a perfect snap on factory fit. All the screw heads are sharp and clean with no burred up heads. The markings are excellent as well. About all I can say on this one. Look at the photos. This is a knock out little Smith that would be hard to up grade on in this price range. Would absolutely fit right in a very high condition Smith collection. This one needs a factory box in excellent condition if you can find one. $18 insured priority mail. Call me at 765-728-8049 or e-mail me which is probably better for more photos or any questions you may have. This is a an excellent example of this model.
