Hooper was a seller of shotguns, not a gun maker. This gun was likely made by W.C. Scott and sold under the H. Hollis brand. The gun is in excellent condition throughout as we just stripped the action, ultrasonic cleaned and inspected, lubricated and reassemble the receiver and locks. We restored the nicely figured original wood to perfection, including a hand rubbed oil finish and recut the checkering which has a delightful mullered border. The forend is in excellent condition as well, with a horn inlay at the tip. The barrels are unique, as THEY ARE TWO DIFFERENT TYPES OF DAMSCUS STEEL. This has been seen by others and written about in several journals and books over the years, but this is the first time I have owned one. We had the barrels beautifully restored and now 100% of the pattern is visible. See photos for details. These barrels are factory, both proofed at the same time, pre-1898. The ribs are tight and the bores are mirror shiny, with no dents or dings. This is a high quality gun with nicely filed and engraved receiver, gorgeous wood, and weighs only 6lbs. 12oz. with 30" barrels. Great shooting dimensions as well. If you ever wanted a nice hammer gun that is ready to shoot for another 100 years, this is a great example at a great price. General Specs: H.
