Westley Richards Droplock Lightweight, A 1947 lightweight droplock with trim action and weighing just 6 lbs. 3 oz.. 12 bore, ejectors, 2 3/4" chambers with reproof for 70mm (2 3/4" proof), original 28" barrels choked .005 Skt. and .010 IC and marked "Westley Richards Special Steel" underneath, lovely figured stock at 1 1/2" DAC, 1 3/4" DAH, 1/8" cast off, 14 5/8" LOP over original horn butt plate, single selective trigger, straight grip, splinter forend with a horn tip inlayed, full coverage bold scroll engraving with "Westley Richards" in a banner on both sides of action and "Westley Richards, Patent Single Trigger" on top of action, long bar beetle back automatic safety with "SAFE" in gold, dolls head rib extension 3rd bite, concave game rib engraved "Westley Richards, 23 Conduit St, London, Gunmakers By Appointment to His Majesty George V", Westley patent top lever, rounded scroll back action with traces of original case colors, typical Westley "Deeley-Edge" forend release, hinged full bottom plate with bottom screw hidden underneath with removable locks that are engine turned and serial numbered to the gun. Reproved at 18.8 (.740) bore diameters and both measure .741 today, min. wall thickness .023 on both. Cased in original maker's lightweight case with maker's label intact, Westley marked snap caps and oil bottle and some cleaning accessories. Excellent condition without issue and with all original components and well maintained. A beautiful droplock made on a smaller frame size and wonderful to handle.
