No pits, very smooth excellent. The length of pull is 14 1/4" original stock. I called William Richards of Liverpool (they are still in business) and this is the information I got. The gun was made in 1894 and was a best quality gun with full engraving and was made with premium Normandy walnut stock and forearm. This was the best quality gun they made. Below is what the gunsmith measured for me. Bore Diameter Left .733 , Right .733,  Right choke .008,  Left choke .027. The minimum walls are Right .032 Left .034 I purchased this gun in England and I had it shipped over. Gun is beautiful and tight on face. Everything works as it should. The wrist of the gun stock has not been repaired. I had my gunsmith in the U.K look the gun over before I purchased it. I thought the same thing. He could find no repairs to the stock. He believed this was a factory job, because the  checkering matches perfectly with the screw. My gunsmith here in the U.S said the same thing when I showed him. I called W. Richard's (they are still in business) and he said that they did make early guns with this as a new feature.
