Serial number 444! A very nice survivor.
Norm Flayderman wrote: "Enthusiasts regard the Colt Model 1878 as one of the finest quality shotguns made in American history".
Their barrels were made in Belgium and sent "in the white" to Colt where the Damascus finish was applied.
The Model 1878s were made 1878-89, and this was a very early one.
