Description: Serial #159106, .44 caliber, 8? barrel with a good, lightly pitted bore. This is a mixed number gun that has 85-90% of an added blue finish with the balance of the metal having faded to pale gray-brown. The cylinder does not have a visible scene left and the barrel-frame fit is poor with the barrel resting a few millimeters shy of the frame itself. The wedge and wedge screw are likewise ill-fitting and are not fully seated. Additionally, there is a slight crack in the metal on the left side of the barrelnext to the rammer head. The brass furniture has turned to a bright yellow-ochre patina with scattered darker brown spots here and there and the walnut grip has been heavily sanded with numerous small scratches and marks under and through the added oil finish. At one point two brass studs or clips were added to the toe and heel of the butt for purposes unknown, but perhaps for attaching a homemade shoulder stock or similar accessory (the rear stud is now missing). The mechanism does cock but the cylinder does not index. This is a fair example of an original Model 1860 Army revolver and would probably make a good source for original parts.
